My name is Gerard from Amsterdam, private investigator.
After I listen to the 911 call I noticed something very suspicious, about the conversation made with David. He knows to much in a very short time, On the beginning of the conversation he said "uh I couldn't get an answer at the buzz " So how he got in the house, and why he try to use the buzz. Does he has a key ? Then he say's " there is blood all over I don't know what happend", later in the conversation you should listen to how he says everytime "Catherine baby girl" This whole conversation if you listen to it over and over again is so suspicious that it seems David knows much more.
And there is more, the fingerprint found in the appartment from Paul could already be there, after the murder the blood felt over it and yes then it makes you a suspect. After I saw the whole story Im 100% sure that David is suspect nr.1 and he has even a motive to kill her because she told him that she wanted to brake up with him, but let him stay in the house. And thats not all, what about the DNA that was not tested. My advice is to start a new investigation on David, and Im sure definately sure that the Police or Homicide department will find a clue very soon

I saw the 48 hours show this past week, and I must say that I am disturbed that this man was convicted. It seems strange to me that the other boyfriend/roommate was not considered but Paul Cortez was. If anything, I think calling someone and taking them to the hospital shows caring...not obsession. The other guy seems somewhat flaky on the 911 call and I do not really understand how you could not realize what had happened if you saw someone with their throat cut. It seems very bizarre to me. Maybe it was someone she encountered at these clubs. It is not exactly a "safe" business to be in. In any case, I do not know every single fact, but it honestly seems like this trial was a disaster and this man should at the very least get a new trial with the complete evidence presented. I did donate online to his legal defense fund because I believe that every person, especially in our country, deserves a decent chance at a fair trial. I would hope others would strongly feel the same way.

My heart and thoughts go out to Paul and his family. I have followed this case from the beginning and watched the 48 Hours program as well as purchased the book. The gross incompetence alone of Paul's lawyers should be enough to grant him a new trial. The fact that forensic evidence was not tested is the key to this case and Paul's freedom.

I read the book DEATH of a DREAM and followed the 48 Hours Mystery. This is absolutely the worst defense in the history of juris prudence. This is a travesty and I hope Paul's family win a new trial with a top notch attorney. I read that Jeff Lichtman is taking the case. He should work with Nathan Dershowitz who is brilliant. I am not sure if Paul is innocent or guilty but I will say not having that hair tested and getting David's DNA is an outrage. This is shoddy work.

I just got done watching the 48 hours mystery story on the murder and I am in shock about how they figured paul guilty the video that supposedly showed the boots is ridiculous I read about crimes and murders all the time however I've never felt compelled to go as far as to look up a website in support of the convicted but I believe he's innocent

I believe in Paul's innocence. My heart breaks for what he's going through. I wrote an email to the address listed on this site and I haven't gotten a response as of yet...was wondering how to get in touch with Paul. I would like to send cards, carepackages, etc. if possible. What is the specific address and details needed to get a letter to him??
Thanks & continued prayers.

Okay!!!The NYPD has F***d up big time here! I read "Death of a Dream" this weekend, and my jaw dropped when I finsihed the book! THE BOOK CLEARLY STATES: time of death to be between 6:20 and 6:35 pm! DAVID was WITH her then!!! The neigbors looked at their clocks when they started hearing screams (the one guy that had his girlfriend on the phone, - EVEN SHE heard the screams through he phone-for God sakes!)
I read that they eliminated David as suspect because his alibi checked out. ALIBI? YES he has an alibi for weher he was at 6:40 -6:45 talking to his work buddies- HELLO??? THIS IS AFTER THE MURDER!! AN ALIBI IS for where you are at THE TIME OF THE MURDER, not (so much)where you after the murder. When Paul called Catherine at 5:15 she sounded off... I think Catherine and David were discussing how he had to "get out" (leave) again....David didnt like that! Where was he to go.. what was he to do?... then she gets a call from Paul... he knows she been (with Paul intimately) - he's the one who " explodes" ~!!!!
HE WAS WITH HER AT THE TIME OF DEATH!!!!!AT THE TIME THE NEIGHBORS HEARD SCREAMING!!! - UGH! This is a disgrace!!! That dude has blonde hair!!! If I were
Pauls' MOM, I would demand my money back for so arogantly defending him. This sloppines and lack of funds on the attorneys part ( not hiring expert witnesses)etc...is no excuse for a defense attorney. They take an OATH to defens their client by all means neccessay! GET YOUR MONEY BACK FROM THOSE TWO WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand why the police did not look closer at David, her old boyfriend. I found it hard to believe that according to David, Catherine had sex with him while getting ready for work yet he was no longer her boyfriend. I believe Catherine was fed up with David's freeloading and kicked him out and he raped her and killed her. He had more of a motive than anyone.
